Morning Star School is a primary and secondary school that follows and promotes Christian values and ethics. It was founded in 2003, with the aim of offering a quality private education, in accordance with international standards, to Mauritian and expatriate students. The School is recognized and licensed by the Mauritian Ministry of Education and the Private Secondary Schools Authority (PSSA). Therefore, on the one hand, Morning Star School uses a personalized curriculum, informally known as ACE (Accelerated Christian Education), which prepares students for the Cambridge O-Level examinations. Core subjects (primary program) are English, Literature, Math, Science, Information Technology, Social Studies, Word Building and Etymology, Biblical Survey, and French. A broad choice of elective subjects (secondary program) is available for general, intermediate, or high school certificates, such as Business Mathematics, General Business, Accounting, College Mathematics (I+II), Trigonometry, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Speech Health, Art and Humanities. All students are registered with the ICCE (International Certificate of Christian Education), a certification board based in the UK.On the other hand, Morning Star School places much emphasis on extra offerings beyond the curriculum, like sport and cultural activities. Sports offered at Morning Star are swimming, badminton, athletics, handball, touch rugby, football, and ballet. Additionally, drama and music as well as arts and crafts are part of the daily activities at Morning Star School.
At Morning Star School, each classroom is supervised by an academic teacher (supervisor) and an administrative assistant teacher (monitor). All academic teachers are formally educated and possess university degrees or teacher training certificates. Furthermore, all staff at Morning Star School is trained, since its ACE curriculum is a student centered program, as learning facilitators.
