Le Bocage International School (LBIS) is a secondary school offering a well-balanced international education to students aged between 11 and 19. It was founded in 1990 and grew rapidly since then; today more than 600 students are served at Le Bocage International School. The School is fully accredited by the Council of International Schools (CIS) and by the Mauritian Ministry of Education. As an IBO school, Le Bocage International School offers the International Baccalaureate (IB) Program for the Middle Years (Forms 1 – 5) and for the Diploma Years (Forms 6 – 7). Le Bocage International School also offers the IGCSE examination (Cambridge International General Certificate of Secondary Education). Students of Forms 4 and 5 will be prepared to sit the IGCSE.
The IB Middle Years Program is designed to help students aged between 11 and 16 to become familiar with the demands of the modern changing world, and to participate actively in it. Subjects taught in the Middle Year Program belong to the following subject groups: Arts, Design, Health & Physical Education, Individuals & Societies, Language Acquisition, Language & Literature, Sciences, and Mathematics. The IB Diploma Program comprises of three core elements, namely theory of knowledge, an extended essay, and creativity, activity, service. Additionally, there are six subject groups in the Diploma Program, namely Studies in Language and Literature, Language Acquisition, Individuals and Societies, Sciences, Mathematics, The Arts. The IGCSE course – starting in the fourth year – lasts for two years and prepares students for the IB Diploma Program. The course is, due to its balanced curriculum, internationally recognized and finishes with an external examination at IGCSE level.
Le Bocage International School places great emphasis on extra curriculum activities, and therefore conducts an extra-curricular activities program. The program helps students to develop their talents and enhance their creativity abilities. It also supports community-spirited thinking and fosters a healthy relationship between students and teachers. Sports offered at Le Bocage International School, to name a few, are football, badminton, table-tennis, and basketball.
The School employs a total of 64 qualified teachers. Many of them hold postgraduate degrees in education. Further staff at Le Bocage International School are IB Examiners, Workshop Leaders and Consultants. More than 40 teaching rooms are available, including computer rooms, science laboratories, art studios, design and technology rooms, a home economics laboratory, and a library.
